The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is one of the more popular landmarks in Florence and once you stand next to it you can see why. Built in the late 13th century into the mid-14th century, it’s one of the largest churches in the world. The exterior of the cathedral and its bell tower is clad in white, red, and green marble. Set against the blue Tuscan sky it’s a marvel to behold.
I tried to get some photos without tourists but it’s not easy so eventually I did what I often do, look up for an interesting perspective and point my camera in that direction. Standing in the right spot and pointing my camera at the right angle I could get a decent shot of both the cathedral and Giotto’s Bell Tower against the bright blue sky.
