There’s a very interesting historical site south of Prince Rupert, BC in Port Edward. At one time it was a working cannery, one of hundreds on the west coast of the province. The day we were there we had the place to ourselves, except for the rather well-fed cat that had free reign over the place.
I loved the lines of this place. I wasn’t sure I’d find anything but falling down buildings and rusting machinery but I was wrong. The lines and simplicity of the buildings really struck me. I was also happy it was low tide so I could see the pilings the buildings were on. I don’t think the photo would have the same feeling as it does with the exposed pilings and the dark shadows. Then again, it may have been interesting to see a “floating” building.
