It was nice to be back in a canoe a few weeks ago, paddling under grey skies on a quiet lake. Travelling in a canoe means being able to take some heavier items I wouldn’t normally pack in a backpack, like a tripod and an all-metal, medium-format camera.
I was happy when the sun came out on the second day of our stay and I could break out the colour film I had brought with me. The colour photos turned out much better than the black-and-white I also took. Portra has such wonderful colours, especially in soft, filtered, late-spring light.
