This building is part of the Architecture and Planning campus at Dalhousie University in Halifax. I wanted some good, grand architecture to shoot at night using available light. This building fit the bill perfectly as it has tall columns and an impressive entrance. The light source was way up high at the top of the columns making for a moody and dramatic scene.
I was mostly interested in the columns, but after I printed the frame I noticed the snow on the steps, pushed to side and cleared up the middle. It gives the shot a little more humanity, some “mess” in an otherwise cold and stark scene.
