I’m spending the long weekend up on Cape Breton at a friend’s family cottage. I brought my cast iron Dutch oven to cook up a batch of my famous stew.
It turned out excellent. The fire adds a subtle smokiness you just can’t get in a slow cooker or oven. This one of my favourite meals to make when I have the opportunity.
The rain magically held off for the two hours too. It started raining not twenty minutes after I pulled the oven off the fire.
