Tried getting a reservation for Keji this summer. There’s a new queue system this year to make reservations “more fair and equitable” which I didn’t know beforehand. After 2 hours and 10 minutes I got to the front of the line to find every backcountry canoe site and all but one hiking site gone for the dates I was interested in. So I couldn’t get any last year and this year is looking like a bust too. Will have to wait and see if there are any cancellations.
The funny thing about waiting for so long was seeing all the visitors to the site researching the Keji backcountry using my various articles. Set a new daily record for visitors! I hope people enjoy whatever articles are available. It looks like I won’t be writing any more anytime soon.
What amazes me is that just a few years ago you could reserve almost any site you wanted at any time, there just wasn’t that much interest in the backcountry. As cool as it is to see more interest in the backcountry experience I’m selfishly looking forward to the day when people go back to not caring about it.
