Peninsula park to park urban hike

Seaview Park panorama I decided to switch it up this weekend and leave the hiking boots at home and do something I’ve been meaning to do since I moved to Halifax. I’ve always wanted to walk the entire length of the peninsula but for one reason or another I’ve just not gotten to it. As I’m trying to add some distance to my hikes, I thought this would be perfect as it’s around 18 kilometres to walk the loop.

Two black and white photos, framed, on the wall I don’t think I’ve ever considered myself an artist. I have never been to art school other than a few night classes. I have taught myself just about everything I know. I made photographs because it made me happy and that is all. The idea that anyone would find anything of any meaning in my work other than “I know the guy who made that” was well beyond me. So it took a bit of poking and prodding from an almost complete stranger to get me to think differently about what I make. I had considered putting a portfolio together but it was always a backburner project with no real goal in mind.

Skydiggers in Halifax

Skydiggers: The Truth About Us One of my all-time favourite bands is the Skydiggers. Since they hit the scene in the late eighties when I was in high school, their music has been with me wherever I’ve gone. Driving across this crazy wide country — twice! — without the Skydiggers would have been like sushi without the chopsticks. Luckily for me, while I was in high school and then college seeing them play live didn’t require multi-province road trips or a trip to the travel agent. It usually only meant driving or taking the subway down to Queen Street West in Toronto, home of the Horseshoe Tavern. Once I left southern Ontario though, it was difficult, if not impossible, to ever see the Skydiggers live.
